  24.     Standard music notation
  25.  
  26.     Uses standard .MID ( MIDI ) files.
  27.  
  28.     Music can be put into the application with the mouse, through 
  29.         a keyboard, or from existing standard MIDI files.
  30.     MIDI Studio can display whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth, 
  31.         and thirty-second notes and rests. Each note or 
  32.         rest has a default duration. The actual duration 
  33.         of a note or rest can be adjusted. 
  34.     Flat, sharp, or natural symbols for each note.
  35.     Key Signature on the staff.
  36.     Time Signature on the staff.
  37.     View two, three, or four bars of a song in the staff area. 
  38.     Three options for mouse input:
  39.         Align to Beat - The note is automatically aligned to the 
  40.             nearest    thirty-second beat.
  41.         Sequential - The note is appended to the end of the 
  42.             current track.
  43.         Free form - The note is placed on the nearest beat to 
  44.             where the mouse was clicked.

  46.     Control Panel 
  47.         The Control Panel provides buttons and Faders that let 
  48.             you access some of the features of  MIDI Studio. 
  49.         Buttons to see the next and previous bars. 
  50.         Buttons to play the current bars, the whole song, and 
  51.             to stop play.
  52.         Buttons to turn tracks on or off, and check boxes that 
  53.             display track status at all times.
  54.         Note Bar - To easily change the current note.
  55.         Buttons to clear and refresh the screen.
  56.         Faders to control tempo and velocity.
  57.         Buttons to start and stop recording for a synthesizer.

  59.     Voice Information
  60.         Voice information about any synthesizer can be set up in 
  61.             ordinary files. MIDI Studio uses these files to 
  62.             let you set the voices for each song.
  63.         Voice information can be set up and saved for each song.
  64.         Voice information is sent to the synthesizer when a song 
  65.             is played.

  67.     ' Cut and paste ' ability for groups of notes.

  76. Unzip the files into their own directory.
  77.  
  78. MStudio.ini is the initialization file for the system. Copy it to 
  79.     your windows directory ( C:\WINDOWS ).

  81. Run MSTUDIO.EXE

  84. Windows Interface Drivers

  87. Unless you have used othe MIDI tools in the past, the MIDI drivers
  88. for your sound board may noy be installed. The Windows control panel
  89. is used to install drivers. It can usually be found in the Main 
  90. Windows control group, or use the File/Run menu items to run the
  91. control.exe program.

  93. Double click on the Drivers icon in the control panel. The Drivers 
  94. currently installed on your computer will be listed. If there is no
  95. listing for a driver for your sound board choose the Add button.
  96.  
  97. A list of some of the most popular drivers will be presented. If a 
  98. driver for your sound board is shown, double click on it. You will be 
  99. asked to insert one of the Windows diskettes so that the driver can 
  100. be copied on to your computer. If there is no driver for your sound
  101. board listed, the best place to look for it is the disks that came
  102. with your sound board. Choose the "Unlisted or updated driver" line
  103. and insert each disk that came with your board. If a driver is found,
  104. the name will be shown toyou and you will be asked if you want to 
  105. install the driver.

  107. Windows needs to be restarted after the driver has been installed.

  109. The driver that you installed should now show as an option on the 
  110. Config... dialog inside MIDI Studio. If the device is capable of 
  111. play and record, it will show on both the play and record lists. 
  112. If it is a play only device, such as SB PRO FM or Adlib, it 
  113. will show on the play list only.
